Database Adminsitrator - Senior

Required skills - PostgreSQL,MySQL and MongoDB

Responsibilities:

· Administer and maintain PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle and MongoDB database systems, ensuring their availability, reliability and security.

· Monitor and forecast database capacity requirements, and make recommendations for scaling database systems.

· Orchestrate DB interactions, develop solutions that are repeatable and recyclable.

· Plan and execute data migration and data transformation tasks as needed. Likely from on-prem to cloud using open-source tools and custom scripts as needed.

· Manage cross platform data replication using open-source tools.

· Monitor and optimize database performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, fine-tuning queries, and optimizing system resources.

· Some non-RDBMS work likely – maintaining and troubleshooting Mongo DB clusters as needed.

· R&D + Implementation of automation & orchestration for DBaaS solutions found within our Cloud Architecture. Participate in on call rotation as defined by management.

· Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configuration, procedures and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements:

· 5+ years’ experience handling large scale RDBMS and no-SQL systems and related database migrations

· Proficiency in database management systems such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle and Mongo.

· Proficiency in SQL , query optimization and troubleshooting skills across multiple database platforms.

· Familiarity with database performance monitoring and optimization tools.

· Demonstrated ability to design and implement secure, scalable and high-performance database solutions.

· Knowledge of data security best practices.

· Experience working in Cloud, Agile, CI/CD, DevOps environments a plus

· Customer oriented with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

· Experience working with 24/7 production websites

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

· Experience in developing, maintaining and optimizing Shell and Unix scripts to automate routine database tasks, backups, data migrations, and system monitoring.

Education/Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.

· 4+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL (extensive Oracle/MySQL experience with a willingness to learn PostgreSQL may substitute)

English - Advanced / Fluent

Database Adminsitrator - Senior

Position Summary:

As a Sr. Database Administrator you will work with engineers who are passionate about Continuous Improvement and industry best practices. We embrace Lean/Kanban methodologies. This team is in process of replacing traditional relational data stores with new, modern cloud offerings. Our goal is based upon performance, fault tolerance, security and reliability. We will leverage AWS as well as 3rd party marketplace offerings to make this happen.

We are at a critical junction in migrating from hosted datacenters toward cloud native computing, all the while maintaining business in a hybrid fashion as we continue our transition. This role must provide both innovative cloud native solutions that are cost effective as well as steering direction for our hosted environment, ensuring performance and stability. You will work closely with a talented group of application admins, system admins, and developers, who work hard and play harder!

The position will require a good mix of steadfast persistence, innovative thinking, ability to interpret performance data, and good people skills. If you can do all that while having fun, even better!

Current projects include:

· Re-thinking traditional relational data services and architecting/replatforming to cloud

· Working with stakeholders to reduce database complexity as a whole and remove duplication.

· Improving database stability and application uptime by leveraging best in class DBaaS solutions
